Enhancing Capabilities of Coffee Farmers in Guatemala Through Training and Market Development

Guatemala’s small and medium-sized coffee farmers are in crisis as a result of the impacts of climate change, a lack of access to sustainable farming techniques, soil degradation, pricing instability, and limited market access. Because of this, many small-scale family farms are disappearing, resulting in decreased income generation capacity and increased urban and international economic needs-based migration.

This project connects farmers to market opportunities at fair-trade prices to immediately increase the economic viability of their existing family farms. Simultaneously providing capacity building towards more sustainable and regenerative farming practices that will increase yields and the development of new companion crops that will protect existing ecology, increase biodiversity, and primary product yields while providing secondary income streams that extend beyond the coffee harvest season.

We are:

Connecting farmers to market opportunities, Breath of Earth has established partnerships with WellKind and Nzatu Food Group.  At the same time, we’re supporting organizations and local communities with technology-integrated capacity development resources, enabling cooperative economic growth opportunities for small-scale farmers.

Addressing root causes of economic needs based migration issues  by providing livable income streams through fair pricing on coffee yields, alongside companion agricultural product development.
